Multiconsult’s priorities in Klima 2050

The proposed main focus areas for Multiconsult’s participation in Klima 2050 are:

1.  Development of moisture safe buildings
Modern building technology and changing climate requires development of innovative solutions for roofing and façade solution of buildings in the context of a wet terrain. This is related both to construction elements and building technology. Operation and maintenance in a whole lifecycle perspective is crucial. Multiconsult would for instance develop new methods and tools for:

  • Climate and building data presentation, visualising scenarios for stakeholders and decision makers in for instance municipalities and building companies.

  • Best available technology for upgrading existing buildings and safeguarding cultural heritage.

2.  Water initiated landslides and erosion
Multiconsult has a large team of hydrologists, geologists and environmentalists focusing on risk analyses and mitigation measures for erosion and landslides.  In Klima 2050 we would like to focus on innovation for developing holistic tools, to be used by stakeholders and decision makers, for forecasting and visulalisation/integration of data in GIS an 3D models, such as;

  • local rainfall/runoff, flooding – and water level calculation,

  • erosion-, landslide and flood insurance,

  • flood diversion and retention

3.  Storm water management in the urban landscape
Climate change and urbanization demands new and innovative solutions for storm water management, especially in urban areas. We are especially interested in development of blue-green solutions for area- and landscape planning and for upgrading of existing storm water management systems. Multiconsult would focus on developing a holistic model for efficient size calculation of culverts and waterways running through roads and railways that have local flood and landslide hazards. Freshwater ecology and biodiversity would also be considered as the model processes the data. Results would be presented and visualized with GIS and 3Dintegration.

4.  Effective decision processes
There is a large potential for innovation related to improve methodology and support system for decision processes regarding to both risk assessment and management and to risk mitigation in the planning process. Multiconsult has already done some work in this area, and we would utilize our participation in Klima 2050 to develop new methods and tools for holistic presentations and visualisations for stakeholders and decision makers. Multiconsult would be particularly interested in capitalizing on our unique position to put the developed tools in to practice both nationally and internationally.

Norgeshus’s priorities in Klima 2050

Norgeshus’s main interest in Klima 2050 is moisture safe buildings and handling of surface water in development areas.

Leca’s priorities in Klima 2050

Leca want Klima 2050 to enable us to develop the following solutions:

1.     Moisture safe outer walls
We wish the development of outer wall solutions that are optimal with respect to maintenance and that provide robust moisture solutions for use both over and against terrain.

2.     Urban flooding prevention
In order to handle surface water locally on plots, it is necessary to develop the concept of blue-green solutions. We see that Leca-pellets can constitute a key element in the concept. Our interest lies in contribute to the development of complete systems for green roofs and surface water handling on plots.

3.     Light embankments for landslide prevention
Landslide prevention is a market with which we aim at getting further involved in. We intend to develop our solutions for lightweight embankments to be effective measures against landslides initiated by water.

Skanska Norways’s priorities in Klima 2050

The Klima 2050 described integrated approach to risk management of future climate change impacts is of particular importance to Skanska. We have a clear need for new and innovative solutions within the fields of:

1.     Future climatic exposure and methods for geographically dependent design (e.g. moisture safe buildings)
2.     Storm water management and urban flood risk assessment
3.     Decision processes enabling clear reductions of risk in large and complex civil engineering and construction projects.
